About
December 16, 2007
Welcome Students, Parents, and Friends,
We are now fully into the second quarter and right around the corner from the holiday vacation, which should provide some much needed rest for everyone. Progress reports went out on Friday, December 14.

Junior High basketball ended on a positive note with both girls and boys representing themselves well and playing their hardest throughout the season. District basketball is in full swing and peewee season will begin in February. We have many aspiring basketball and cheerleaders who will take advantage of these seasons.
A big thank you to those folks that donated coats, hats, and mittens to our Grade 8 Coats for Kids campaign. It was a successful “coat”raiser. Grade 8 continues to fundraise for their classtrip on May 4, 5, & 6 to St. John, N.B. We will be traveling with West’s Bus Service and look forward to all of the great activities planned. Look for upcoming fundraising events, which will include a silent auction, Uncle Jerry’s T’s sales, a public supper, a 3-on-3 basketball tourney, and junior high dances.

Teachers and students alike are preparing for the upcoming curriculum fair in January. Grade 7 math students are putting finishing touches on a chapter project dealing with statistics and movies. Grades 5/6 Math students have indulged themselves into solving one-step and two-step equations, as grade 8 continues to work on equations, as well.
The year has been very busy and we anticipate that that will continue throughout the year as we learn and grow together. Be sure to stop by and see our two fish, kindly donated by grade 6 student, Kayla Jordan. They have been named Poppin and Fresh through a student poll. They appear to be happy with their new names.
Please take a moment to read the middle level wing’s expectations for a positive year.
Expectations and the KEYS to success in the Junior High Wing are clear and simple:
1. Be respectful of yourself, the environment you are in, your fellow learners, and adults.
2. Come to class prepared and ready to work. This means having your assignments done, having all the materials with you that you need to learn and work. This includes books, notebooks, pencils, planner, etc.
3. Represent yourself well and live by the motto “so each may learn”, which reminds each of us that our behavior and actions impact not only our ability to be successful in the classroom but also the ability of others to be successful as well.
4. Ask questions and follow up if you are confused about an assignment or other instructions that you are given. Please do not wait until the time when an assignment is due to say, “I didn’t get it.”
Daily Extended Study:
Daily Extended Study appears to be successful with many students taking advantage of this time to complete homework or catch up on past work. Most students gain 40-50 minutes of study time with this option, which is especially helpful during the sports seasons.
Wishing you continued success. Please see me with any problems or concerns.
Yours in Learning, Mrs. Tenney
